5 WAYS TO IMPROVE YOUR RESUME
Recruits receive dozens or sometimes, hundreds of resumes on daily basis. However, not all of them are able to catch
1. PUT YOUR EFFORTS IN THE TOP THIRD PART OF YOUR RESUME:
This part of your resume deserves the most attention, time and effort as it is the most critical area. Recruits don’t spend more than a matter of seconds in reviewing your resume. They are only going to spend time on it, if the top part attracts them. Thus, you need to make it wonderful and magnetizing. The manager, who is responsible for hiring people, selects people for interviewing them, based on the top third part of the resume. Thus, move the entire relevant and important information on the top section.
2. OBJECTIVE STATEMENT IS NOW OLD SCHOOL:
Gone are the days when the objective statement in a resume seemed like an attractive element; now it is not. It is baseless and unnecessary. Your objective is already clear; you want the job or internship that you are applying for. In place of the objective statement, you can write a very precise career summary. Make it no longer than 4-5 lines and describe who you are and what skills you have to offer to the organization.
3. WORD OUT YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE RESUME:
You definitely want to showcase your responsible behavior through your resume but more than that, you need to word out your achievements. You need to focus a lot on accomplishments because if you have accomplished a lot previously; it will automatically portray you as a responsible individual.
4. FONT CONSISTENCY:
Your resume needs to look neat and clean and the font is the basic element that helps you in achieving it. Keep your font consistent. The style of your resume basically reflects your personality to the recruit and you don’t want to showcase lack of professionalism, do you? The body text needs to be of at least 10 points or maybe 11; don’t use smaller text than 10. The headers need to range between 14-16 points (14 being the best though). Keep it simple and don’t forget to bold your headers! The font helps immensely to improve resume and make it appear clean.
5.BE SPECIFIC ABOUT YOUR RESUME LENGTH:
A lot of people don’t pay attention to their resume’s length and this is where they go wrong. For instance, if you have been working for the past 6-7 years, your resume should be no longer than 2 pages. Any work experience that is lower than 3-4 years; don’t exceed your resume more than a page. A super lengthy resume is never eye-catching for the recruit until and unless you have been working for more than 10 years.
FINAL VERDICT:
So you now have 5 ways to make the best resume ever!
Recruits receive endless resumes daily and you need to make sure that your stands out. Don’t stick to the old, boring resume styles and do whatever you can to enhance it. Stay minimal and spend
