Generally speaking, an accountant is a specialist in measuring, disclosing or delivering assurance, in the form of financial information and as a base for resource allocation, by managers, investors and tax authorities. Cash accounting is an accounting method where receipts are recorded during the period they are received, and the expenses in the period in which they are actually paid. When the cash is received for a sale, it is recorded in the accounting books as a sale. This is in contrast with accrual accounting, where revenue and expenses are recorded when they are earned. The General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), don’t usually accept this kind of accounting, as it is only fit for small organizations.

Thus, a Cash Accountant typically works for a small company or a nonprofit organization and records only cash transactions. Consequently, he/ she may also be required to help prepare the organization’s financial statements and analyze the operating data to detect business trends.
