In any organization, product and service quality has to meet specific standards of quality before it can be sold to the customers. A Quality Assurance Analyst ensures that quality of the products/services meets some specific standards and is free from faults or blemishes. A quality assurance analyst monitors the quality of the product across the production cycle – from product design to delivery. In case of service organizations such as technology services, a quality assurance analyst has to test new systems and softwares to ensure they are not vulnerable to viruses and function stably. Role of a quality assurance analyst has become extremely important due to increased demand from customers for hygienic and safe products.

Skill Requirements

  • Good communication skills with proficiency in oral as well as written English. Knowledge of few regional and foreign languages will also be an add-on.
  • Extremely detailed oriented and be able to identify defects effectively.
  • Excellent surveillance and observation skills.
  • Knowledge of specific quality regulations and standards applicable to the industry one is working in.
  • Knowledge of domestic and international laws on quality assurance.
  • Good knowledge of computers and various systems & databases used in quality checking and testing.
  • Awareness and be able to use effectively various quality checking and product testing tools and equipments.

Job Duties

  • Test the quality of the product or service or process against the set benchmark or with quality standards. A quality assurance analyst has to check the quality at every stage of the production as mentioned below:During the testing exercise if any faults or errors or viruses or ambiguity are noticed, inform the superiors about the same. The faulty product should be repaired or disposed off in an appropriate manner. Ensure necessary steps are taken so that the next batch of production is free from any defects.
  • Testing the quality of the incoming inventory and raw materials.
    • Testing the process of production – check if the machinery is in good working condition, work space is clean & tidy and workers maintain personal hygiene.
    • Testing the semi-finished and WIP products.
    • Testing the finished goods or services.
    • Ensure good quality and durable packaging is used to avoid any damage during the handling and delivery process.
  • Write, maintain and update from time to time a manual of standard operating procedures and quality control checklist.
  • Supervise and train the staff/workers about standards of quality and their implementation.
  • Always be up to date of latest news and regulations related to quality control.
  • Do market surveys to understand consumer’s perception of quality.

Work Conditions

  • Work from a lab or quality control department of an organization.
  • Travel may be negligent or limited.

Educational Requirements

  • B.E. or Graduate or Bachelor’s in Quality assurance or Science or Process management or Product engineering – Mandatory.
  • Post-graduation certification – Specialization in Quality assurance or Process management or Product engineering will be preferred.
  • Candidates who have previously worked as a quality assurance analyst will be preferred.
